She taught special education for the Memphis City Schools for seven years. Prior to coming to Brainiac, Helen worked for 16 years for a privately-held company as a one-to-one educational counselor and tutor for students ranging from third grade through high school. Subjects she taught or tutored include reading, mathematics, language arts, literature, history, and finance. In her position, she also coordinated curriculum for students at the intermediate grade level, and coordinated multiple field trips and in house activities for staff and students. She schooled her two children at home in all middle and high school subjects. She enjoys working with students master difficult concepts and become independent learners. Helen joined the Brainiac Tutoring team in 2008 and we often receive calls from new clients who ask for her by name. In 2013, Helen began splitting her time between tutoring our students and serving on our Leadership Team.

Lynne Marie Becker, Founder and Past President

Lynne Marie holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Christian Brothers University and a master's degree in mathematics from Saint Louis University. Prior to founding the company in 2007, she worked in a variety of roles that have given her real-life experiences to draw upon as a tutor. She managed technical personnel in food processing plants; designed measurement tools and analyzed data both in industry and for municipal governments; taught at the high school and college levels; and wrote and edited educational programs. Just prior to launching Brainiac Tutoring, she was on the team at Best Quest Teaching Systems, where she wore several hats in production, research, and sales. She is most proud of her final role there as Senior Editor of the award-winning algebra curriculum, Algebra'scool.  Lynne Marie was the owner and president of Brainiac Tutoring from 2007 until mid-2025, when she transitioned leadership of the company to a new owner so that she could spend more time directly tutoring students, directing a local non-profit, and enjoying family adventures.
