Colleen Amos

President & Owner

Colleen worked as a tutor at Brainiac Tutoring for several years before taking over as the chief executive officer and owner of the company in July 2025.  She earned a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Notre Dame and an M.S. in Secondary Education from Johns Hopkins University. After teaching high school math in Shelby County Schools for six years, she then served as an Instructional Coach for her school’s math teachers.

Helen holds a B. S. in Education with licensure in Special Education and a Master’s in Elementary Education. She taught special education in Memphis for seven years and worked 16 years as a one-to-one educational counselor and tutor for students from third grade to high school, covering subjects like reading, math, language arts, literature, history, and finance. She also coordinated curriculum and activities for intermediate students. Helen home-schooled her two children through middle and high school. She enjoys helping students master concepts and become independent learners. Helen joined Brainiac in 2008, and many clients request her by name. In 2013, she began splitting her time between tutoring and serving on the Leadership Team.

Lynne Marie Becker

Lynne Marie holds a bachelor’s in electrical engineering from Christian Brothers University and a master's in mathematics from Saint Louis University. Before founding Brainiac Tutoring in 2007, she gained diverse experience, including managing technical staff in food processing plants, designing measurement tools, analyzing data for industry and municipal governments, teaching at high school and college levels, and developing educational programs. She also worked at Best Quest Teaching Systems in production, research, and sales, ending as Senior Editor of the award-winning algebra curriculum, Algebra'scool. Lynne Marie led Brainiac Tutoring from 2007 to 2025, then transitioned the company to new ownership to focus on tutoring, running a non-profit, and family activities.

Leigh C. Becker, Ph.D., is an Emeritus Professor of Mathematics at Christian Brothers University with 34 years of teaching, including courses from introductory math to advanced Differential Equations, which he specializes in and authored a textbook for CBU. He also taught high school in Illinois and Germany. His favorite class was Differential Equations. Dr. Becker earned three sabbaticals, grants, and the Dr. Marguerite Cooper Distinguished Professor Award in 2001-02 and 2012-13. He still publishes research, tutors, and teaches occasionally at CBU and Rhodes College. He holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in physics from Illinois Institute of Technology and University of Illinois, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in mathematics from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
