Multi-subject Web Sites

 

  • Quizlet is a lightning fast way to memorize vocabulary lists. It's like flashcards, but much more fun and interactive

 

  • Fact Monster is a free reference site for students, teachers, and parents. Get homework help and find facts on thousands of subjects, including sports, entertainment, geography, history, biography, education, and health. Brainiac also recommends the online flashcards and other learning tools found on this user-friendly site.

 

  • Mensa for Kids is a terrific site for kids to explore - including monthly features, games, and educational activities that kids will love! Have fun!

 

  • SuperTeacherWorksheets.com provides links to free math worksheets, printable grammar sheets, multiplication facts practice, creative writing prompts, math word problems, manuscript printing practice, and much more. Some areas on this site can send you to advertisements for teaching and learning materials, but the free materials are clearly listed on the home page. Scroll down and look at the far lefthand column to find quick links to various subject-areas.

 

  • Teach-nology.com offers free access to thousands of worksheets and teaching resources in lanaguage arts, math, arts and humanities, social studies, science, music and physical education. Some areas on this site require a nominal registration fee, but there are plenty of high quality materials available for free.

 

  • Discovery Education  provides free student educational resources, including homework help, help with science projects, and interactive games and activities.

 

  • Hippo Campus is a free educational website that provides subject content through videos and simulations for middle school and high school students.

 

 

Math

 

  • Math is Fun Math is explained in easy language, plus this site includes puzzles, games, quizzes, worksheets and a forum for K-12 kids, teachers and parents.

 

  • IXL Math This is a fanstastic site with unlimited math questions in more than 1,000 topics. Brainiac loves this site because the site is attractive, user-friendly, and makes it easy to see what skills should be learned at each grade level. Another bonus is that this site contains quick links to the math standards set for each state, by grade level.

 

  • MathDrills.com includes over 6000 free worksheets with answer keys. Worksheets include drill for elementary, middle, and high school students.

 

 

  • Superkids has customizable math worksheets that provide practice and answer sheets for addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, order of operation, fractions, percents, and telling time.

 

Social Studies and Geography

 

  • Guide to the Presidents presents interesting facts and links to websites for each of the United States' Presidents.

 

  • SoftSchools Geography Games presents some excellent resources, including fun online quizzes, to help students learn basic geography. Hey parents, see if you can beat your child's score on the States quiz!
